GFS/Storage Optimization Manager (SOM). Tape software consisting of two components:

• Optimization Module - Cache tape datasets on disk. Datasets to be written to tape are first written to disk. These can later be written to tape, reducing the number of tapes required.
• Migration Module - Migrate tape datasets to different tape storage technologies

First released as Beta 55 by Beta Systems. Sold to GFS software in 2002.
