Detail:

Remote Spooling Communications Subsystem (RSCS). Software to send messages, files, jobs, print output and commands to other systems. Can communicate with other systems supporting NJE or RJE communications including:

• z/OS systems using JES2 orJES3
• z/VSE systems using POWER
• Other z/VM systems using RCSC
• Other software supporting NJE or RJE such as TPS/RJE and Barr/RJE.

Also supports email communications between SMTP servers, and LPR daemons and clients.

Originally communicated using BSCS and SNA. TCP/IP support was added in 1995 with V3.2.

Included as an optional component of z/VM in 2007.
