Detail:

Originally a computer consulting firm formed in 1966 as Computer Software Systems. Later moved into computer timesharing systems. Name changed to National CSS in 1970.

Created the VP/CSS operating system, based in the CP/CMS operating system. Also created one of the earliest database management systems: Nomad.

Acquired by Dun & Bradstreet as part of D&B Computing Services (DBCS) in 1979.
