First released by IONA Technologies in 1997 as Orbix Enterprise, co-developed with Bellsouth Corp. Later renamed to Orbix 2000, and later Orbix Mainframe. Also marketed as IONA Mainframe Integrator. Acquired by Progress from its acquisition of IONA in 2008. Acquired by Micro Focus from Progress in 2012. Acquired by OpenText from its acquisition of MicroFocus in 2023, and by Rocket Software from its acquisition of OpenText's Application Modernization and Connectivity (AMC) business in 2024.
