Tool to fully erase all data on a disk device by overwriting the disk with zeroes or a user-defined pattern. Other features:

• EMPTYVTOC - empties a disk by clearing the VTOC without overwriting disk data
• SIMERASE - validate FDRERASE control statements and determine disks to be erased.

Fiirst released 2004. Acquired by Compuware from its acquisitiion of Innovation Data Processing in 2020, and then by BMC from its acquisition of Compuware in 2020 and renamed to BMC AMI Storage FDRERASE.
