 SQL access to mainframe databases and applications from distributed applications
 

Detail:

Software to allow non-mainframe applications to access mainframe databases using SQL from industry standard APIs such as ODBC, JDBC and ADO.NET. Mainframe applications can also be accessed as if SQL Stored Procedures. Consists of two components:

  • Shadow z/Direct for Data: Mainframe databases supported include DB2, IMS, VSAM and ADABAS.
  • Shadow z/Direct for Applications: Mainframe application environments supported include CICS, CA IDMS, IMS and Natural.

First released in 1994. Acquired by Rocket Software from Progress Software in 2012.
